It's Been Awhile

It has been awhile since I posted here. I was so busy preparing for the wedding of my brother. Just imagine we were able to prepare a wedding for less than a month! Can you believe that? I was so stressed thinking about the gowns, motif, wedding cake, wedding invitation, wedding reception and everything. Well, my husband and I ended in such situation because at first my brother wanted to have a civil wedding. There is nothing wrong in a civil wedding. It is legal. However, I wanted to give my brother and his bride a good memory of their wedding day. So, my hubby and I prepared everything, as in everything! My brother and his bride were just relax. How I wish I had a busy free wedding day, just like theirss! Hehehehehehehe.

After the wedding, I requested for a break. My entire family went off to a 2 week vacation. Gonna share it with you in my next post.

What is the most precious possession you have?

Yes all those are essential, all are precious and important. But those stated above or what you have in your mind may be useless without LIFE. Therefore, our most precious possession is our life. We may have all those things but if we do not have life we cannot enjoy using or possessing it. This can make us realized of how precious our life is. Even when our life is in danger, the common sense will tell us is to protect it or life preservation. Even the laws gives excuse or mitigates punishment when our action calls for protection of one's life.

Let us thank god for that. For blessing us life no matter what hardship we encounter.

I used to grab some opportunities from payingpost.com or http://www.blogadvertisingstore.com/ . According to their terms and condition that they will only pay the opportunities you grab upon reaching the threshold of $100. I already reached the threshold last April 2010 but until now they have not paid me. I already sent several tickets for them to sent the money I earned through paypal but to no avail. Worse, their administration never replied. Are you a member of payingpost? Did they pay you? If yes, please help me.

Ofcourse, paying post is very different from payperpost because payperpost is really paying after 30 days from the date of posting.

A Week Off

Last week, we went to Davao to take the time off, since my daughter's school celebrated the homecoming of its jubilarians and a week of sport fest.She had a week off from school. So we decided to spent the week off to Davao, the city of Durian.

Actually, we were hitting 3 birds with a single stone. Why? Well, (1) we were able to visit my sister who is residing in Davao and had a lot of fun playing with my nephew; (2) my husband needs electrical materials which were not available in our place and so he decided to purchased it in Davao; and (3) staying away from the busy days of work and spent quality family time together.

So you see? It was not a purely vacation moment. Part of our time were spent to look for the materials need to be purchased.

Busy Busy Busy

I was not able to post and blog for 2 weeks because my family and I were so busy preparing for our 3-day convention and at the same time my sister came home so we had a little reunion.

Nice Weekend

Last weekend, we went to the farm. Some friends went with us. We brought with us a friend from Switzerland. Our Swiss friend took some picture and I believe he also enjoyed the visit. Take a look at some of the picture.

I cooked french fries since the kids love it and the Swiss too!

The house in the farm is not yet done. a lot of work need to be done. I just hope it will be completed this year.

Last February, I posted New Member. The new members were Duke and Wooch.

When I was in Manila, my brother texted me. He told me that Wooch passed away because Wooch was bitten by a cobra. I was really crying when I learned what Wooch did. My brother told me that while he was watering the vegetables at the farmWooch was behind him, following him wherever he goes. Later he heard Wooch barking but he just continued walking and watering, then Wooch stopped barking and my brother sensed something was wrong. When he turned around, he saw Wooch lying helplessly, he immediately grab Wooch but a cobra already struck Wooch. My brother ran and apply some medication to counter the venom but it was useless . The cobra's venom was so strong. If it was not for Wooch, my brother would have been bitten by that cobra instead. You see he protected my brother. Wooch risked his life just to be loyal to my brother. So you see how sad it is. That is why I really love dogs. They are so loyal. Truly a man's bestfriend!

To prevent such incident from happening again, we decided to cut all the grasses around. Now my brother regularly trim all the grasses to drive away the snakes.

Finding

I have been browsing and reading blogs to get some tips as to how to lose weight. I really need to lose because I know being fat or obese is not healthy. A lot of diseases are attached to obesity such as heart ailment and hypertension.

I have already read a few but the usual and best advice are still (1) To eat right kind and right amount of food and (2) Exercise.

So I would really need to find time to exercise to bring back my 36-27-36 size or just even close to that size. I hope I can really reduce my weight without taking those reducing pills or even undergoing surgery. I need to set my goals tomorrow and should really work hard. Whew! I hope and I believe I can!

The Place I've Stayed

When I was away from home, I have stayed and lived in the 29th floor in one of the condominiums in Rockwell. It was a very nice and safe place to stay. There are a lot of estate police who are ready to be of assistance especially in crossing the street. I can say that it was a good place to stay but it was not the best because my family was not with me.

A lot of foreigners are also staying in Rockwell. I guess it is due to the comfort and safety why a lot of foreigners are staying there.

Take a glimpse at the room I have stayed.

As I was jokingly told my husband, it was a very nice prison for me. I was trapped in it for 6 months. I never had a chance to really enjoy the place because I was so focused in my studies. All I did was just to look out to see the formation of clouds when my head was not that cooperative anymore. And sad to say, I was not able to take a splash in the pool! :-(

I wish we could own of the units, alas, it was so expensive!

Love they say covers a multitude of sin. Others say that even water can never extinguished love. Still other say "Love is Blind". Do you believe in the latter quote? I don't. I believe that love is not blind, lovers instead are blind. Do you agree?

Love also plays a major role in marriage. It keeps the marriage going and keep the couple happy and contented. I believe love is always necessary yet complicated.

As I browse my facebook, a friend of mine share the story below I hope you will enjoy reading it the way I do. Lessons can also be learned in the foregoing. Enjoy!

DID I MARRY THE RIGHT PERSON?

During one of our seminars, a woman asked a common question. She said, "How do I know if I married the right person?"

I noticed that there was a large man sitting next to her so I said, "It depends. Is that your husband?"

In all seriousness, she answered "How do you know?"

Let me answer this question because the chances are good that it's weighing on your mind.

Here's the answer.

EVERY relationship has a cycle. In the beginning, you fell in love with your spouse/partner. You anticipated their call, wanted their touch, and liked their idiosyncrasies (unconventional behavior/habit) .

Falling in love with your spouse wasn't hard. In fact, it was a completely natural and spontaneous experience.

You didn't have to DO anything. That's why it's called "falling" in love... Because it's happening TO YOU.

People in love sometimes say, "I was swept of my feet." Think about the imagery of that __expression. It implies that you were just standing there; doing nothing, and then something came along and happened TO YOU.

Falling in love is easy. It's a passive and spontaneous experience. But after a few years of marriage, the euphoria (excitement) of love fades. It's the natural cycle of EVERY relationship. Slowly but surely, phone calls become a bother (if they come at all), touch is not always welcome (when it happens), and your spouse's idiosyncrasies, instead of being cute, drive you nuts.

The symptoms of this stage vary with every relationship, but if you think about your marriage, you will notice a dramatic difference between the initial stage when you were in love and a much duller or even angry subsequent stage.

At this point, you and/or your spouse might start asking, "Did I marry the right person?"

And as you and your spouse reflect on the euphoria of the love you once had, you may begin to desire that experience with someone else.

This is when marriages or relationship breakdown. People blame their spouse/partner for their unhappiness and look outside their marriage/relationsh ip for fulfillment.

Extramarital fulfillment comes in all shapes and sizes. Infidelity is the most obvious.

But sometimes people turn to work, a hobby, excessive TV, or abusive substances.

But the answer to this dilemma does NOT lie outside your marriage. It lies within it.

I'm not saying that you couldn't fall in love with someone else.

You could.

And TEMPORARILY you'd feel better. But you'd be in the same situation a few years later. Because (listen carefully to this):

THE KEY TO SUCCEEDING IN MARRIAGE/RELATIONSH IP IS NOT FINDING THE RIGHT PERSON; IT'S LEARNING TO LOVE THE PERSON YOU FOUND.

SUSTAINING love is not a passive or spontaneous experience. It'll NEVER just happen to you. You can't "find" LASTING love. You have to "make" it day in and day out. That's why we have the __expression "the labor of love." Because it takes time, effort, and energy. And most importantly, it takes WISDOM. You have to know WHAT TO DO to make your marriage/relationsh ip work. Sure true love can only happen after you've fallen out of love. When you begin choosing to love, even if you don't feel like doing it ---- that's true love. And that's the foundation of a lasting and strong marriage.

Make no mistake about it. Love is NOT a mystery. There are specific things you can do (with or without your spouse) to succeed with your marriage.

Just as there are physical laws of the universe (such as gravity), there are also laws for relationships.

Just as the right diet and exercise program makes you physically stronger, certain habits in your relationship WILL make your marriage stronger.

It's a direct cause and effect. If you know and apply the laws, the results are predictable. .. you can "make"love.

Love is indeed a "decision".. . Not just a feeling. You'll not just go away with your relationship just because the feeling is gone. In the Bible, love is a command. You make it happen.

"God determines who walks into your life. It is up to you to decide who you let walk away, who you let stay, and who you refuse to let go."

The Bar

The bar was an experience that I will never want to repeat. Life was so boring yet so busy. Reading at least 10 to 12 hours a day and just have to sleep at least 3 to 4 hours a day. But those hours of reading were not enough to cover all the 8 subjects. The time spent was so lacking. I was really trying to catch up with my readings but to no avail until September came. The fearsome 4 Sundays of September.

The First Sunday was so tough and I tell you as Sundays goes by, it gets tougher! I guess it was really unforgettable. The First Sunday, when I went to La Salle University in Taft Avenue, I barely slept for 1 hour, I think. Then The unexpected questions . . . it was so hard. The hardest exam I ever took. Then came the last Sunday. The questions were still very hard! And as we were lining up to go out, came a blast. We thought it was just fire crackers but it was a bomb. Two law students lost their legs.

You see my 6 months was so undescribable and so agonizing. What adds to my agony is the result of the exam. I believe it will be released next year sometime in March or April 2011. I just hope I was able to make it. So that I would not have to repeat the same experience again.

The past 6 months of my life was really the toughest. I really hope my hard work gonna pay off.

We had a 3 day vacation after I graduated from law school. Yes you read it right, I finally finished my 4 year course in LLB. Law school days are over but it was not the end, since the greater pressure and test will be coming, comes September 2010 - the BAR Examination.

We had a family bonding and at the same time unwinding ourselves from the hectic and busy schedules. We did take a short break just before going to my review classes in Manila. Alas! How time flies so fast. March is about to end and my things are not yet fully settled. Gosh! I have to pack my things and my books.

After the Buzy weeks

Hello World! Its summer time in the Philippines. We usually have 37.9 degree Celsius temperature. It is very humid ; plus the drought plus the series of blackouts plus the shortage of water! As what I told a blogger friend, we are experiencing global warming! But it isn't that bad, we Filipinos usually find ways to lessen the problems in our own special way. Mga Pinoys agree ba kayo sa akin?

Anyway, it has been two long weeks since I hopped and update my blog. I was so busy. My daughter graduated in the pre-school last 13 March 2010.

So we decided to give her a kiddie party. Since she really loves to swim, we chose to held it at a hotel poolside. So I was so busy preparing for the party, such as making reservation, prizes for the parlor games and some giveaways for the children who attended.

Then, my final examination began. So my last two weeks was so toxic and hectic. Whew! I am so thankful that it was finally over.

My 4 years in the law school just ended. However, the penitence will be starting soon. My classmates and I are preparing for a more hectic and pressured life - that is, preparing for the bar examination. I hope I could make it. But one thing I am sure of, I will be inactive in the blog world for 6 months, I think. Although, I could visit my blog from time to time just to maintain my sanity. Just to let go of the pressure.

This coming April will be the start of the review classes. What adds to my dilemma is, I will be away from my hubby and my daughter during the duration of my review, since I will be staying in Manila, about 1 hour and 45 minute away via plane from the place where we are staying. I really hope I could stand up to the pressure and loneliness especially when I will be homesick, missing my family.

Its Harvest Time

Harvest time! Not in farmville - I do not play games in Facebook because I do not want to be an addict of such games, otherwise I will miss a lot of readings to which I could not afford due to time constraint. Anyway, we harvested the green grapes in the farm since the red ones are not yet ripe. We placed it inside a clear plastic bag. We had a great time with some friends with us. Take a look!

Headaches Due To Eye Problem

My husband used to complain about headaches. I was wondering what could be the cause of such pain. So I always asked him to take some medicines to ease up his pain. When his headache persisted, we went to a doctor and the doctor told him to consult an ophthalmologist. When we visited one of the diplomate doctors for the eyes in our place, he found out that my husband is near sighted. He recommended eyes glasses for my husband. So he started to measure my husband's vision to know the proper lens that fits his vision. My husband also chose the frames for his glasses that fit his face and taste. Further, his doctor suggested for a lens transition. Transitional lenses refer to those eye glasses which change its color when directed or get contact with the sun's reflection. The eye glasses turns darker and function as sunglasses but when there is no sunlight or inside a room the lenses will be clear again. However, the price is a little expensive. Anyway, my husband decided to purchase the transitional lenses because he will no longer need to buy another pair of sunglasses. So I said, the price is already reasonable. After a week, his eye glasses arrived. He enjoys his glasses and the headache - gone!

Last February 21, 2010 was our 7th year anniversary. We just had a simple gathering invited family and close friends at home. I do not have any gift (me bad!) Actually, I ordered something online, unfortunately, did not arrive yet, so, I am still waiting. However, my hubby gave me a bouquet of roses! I was so happy! The roses are so gorgeous! I know you would agree with me.

New Bed and Thinking

We have a new bed, a king size bed! Well, I think it just fit us! My husband used to sleep on the floor because he cannot sleep well due to our daughter's movement while asleep, she is moving 360 degrees. That is why we decided to purchase a new bed. At first, I thought a Queen Size will do but since the price of the king size bed is reasonable, we decided to get it. Now my daughter can move freely without having her foot hitting our faces! However, I am planning to pair it with a side table but I am still looking for the right one. I also wanted to purchase new furniture for our new home at the farm. I am still looking for discount furniture yet striking. I am thinking of having a comfortable sofa, dividers and closet to fit in. I am thinking of having Philippine Native look set up to match up our bamboo walls. I hope I can find some good stuff. As for me, I usually look for a quality made and attractive furniture yet not expensive. I like to add or mix some furniture to add accent in the interior. I just hope I could choose it right.

My Nephew

My nephew is in the hospital due to viral infection. His doctor could not pin point what causes his dehydration and high fever since his hemoglobin count and urine test are all OK. I hope he will recover soon.

Mid February

Well it is already mid of February and due to our busy schedules we are unmindful that it is about to end. For many, February is a "LOVE Month". It holds true for my husband and I. Not because of Valentines Day because we do not celebrate it. Rather, it is a Love Month for us because we are celebrating our union. It was almost 7 years ago that we have exchanged vows. Now, we still hold such vow and promise to keep it forever!

I do not know how we will celebrate it. One thing I am sure of, my husband never ceased to surprise me every year. I am excited!

Eversince I was a child, Davao was and continued to be my favorite city here in the Philippines. There are a lot spots to go. If you want to savor fresh hydroponic lettuce and other vegetables or different culinary herbs, have a visit at Eden Nature Park. They also have plantation of fruit bearing trees such as lanzones, mangosten, durian and a lot more. You can also take your plunge at their cool swimming pool. And if you are adventurous, try their zip line and Indiana Jones. You can also visit Crocodile Farm, where you can find big crocodiles, pythons, ostrich, tiger, different collection of birds, goats etc. After the sighting their animals, you could unwind yourself by watching tribal dance and fire dance. And if you want to experience eating exotic foods such as ostrich or crocodile, take your hop at River Walk Restaurant. Actually, I tried ostrich steak and it is delicious! If you long for white sand beaches, you could visit Samal Island, about a 15 minute ride via ferry. And if you are audacious enough, take Maxima Aquafun's slide to Abyss, another beach resort in Samal. Those are the few places which I regularly visit when I am in Davao.

Wow! It's 2010, my last post here was on the 20th of December! I was really out of circulation. It was so busy especially when we reached Zamboanga, it was already our mid term examination. I really miss blogging!!!!!

Anyway, we did have a great vacation, however, on our way home my brother-in-law accidentally hit a seven year old girl in Aglayan Malaybalay, Bukidnon. You see how our 2010 started? We started it with a very big bang! My sister and I went to the hospital to know the status of the little girl, but when we reached the hospital, the girl's family planned to transfer the girl to a private hospital without first stabilizing the vital signs of the little girl or even introduced medication to have a free flow of oxygen in her body. Just imagine when they transferred the girl, none of the medical staff accompanied the girl in the ambulance. Then we have learned that there was no proper turn over or communication with the private hospital since the girl was left in the parking lot unattended. Thank goodness that a doctor attended to her after 2 hours and she did undergone medication and also undergone CT Scan. She had a serious head injury. How we pity the little girl. In my opinion, as if the girl's relatives and her mother just wanted her to die and just wanted to collect money from us. Since we did not paid the usurious and unconscionable amount they requested, they did file a reckless imprudence resulting to serious physical injury case against my brother in law. We bailed him out. As we are waiting for his summon, the girl's mother texted my sister and told her that she is already amendable with the offer we made. Next week they will be going back to Bukidnon to settle things up. I hope and pray that it will be successful and we also pray that the girl is already fine.

With My Dog at a Beach

Last week, we went to the beach and brought Ranger along. He had a great time swimming with us. Two years ago, he was so small and he just lie on my lap, but now, he is so big. I usually call him, 'Boy-boy" other than Ranger. He loves to eat rice with fishes. He does not like to eat dog food or can goods. He likes his food to be cooked. So spoiled!

By the way, I was not able to tell you about this story : My daughter would oftentimes asked me and my hubby why she had no sister nor a brother. I just told her that she has a brother. . . our German Sherherd dog, Ranger. Then she again told me, "Mama, can you please give me another brother, please not a dog!" So I just smiled and told her that we will make one next time. I know that she wants a playmate. And you know what she next told me? She said' " Please show me how you and papa make a baby." So we really laughed real hard! So we just told her that it is a secret and by the time she is of age, she will also learn how to do it. I never expected to hear such statement from her.

My husband's godmother told us that a friend of her wants to move back to Hongkong and settle there for good. Since she will be leaving, she is selling all her stuff including 3 slightly used Air conditioner. So we went to her home last Wednesday and we decided to buy the 3 airconditioner to resell it to others, ofcourse with a little profit. ssshhhhh!

Talking about aircon, my sister is having a problem with her car air conditioner. She asked my husband to bring her car to fix her car's problem. My husband told me that he will bring the car of my sister to the service center tomorrow. I hope that will be fixed soon! When I told my sister that her car will be at the service center tomorrow, she jokingly told me that she wish she had a BMW so that she will no longer have any issue with the bmw ac compressor! Actually, I wish for a BMW too!

Anyway, I was so relieved this afternoon after learning that I was one of the 15 out of 31 who passed one of the subjects in our law school. I was so afraid because if and if I failed, I would not be able to graduate this coming March! Whew! However, I was also saddened because two my buddies were not able to make it. I only hope and pray that the dean will be lenient enough to let them re-assessed and re-enroll the said subject.

Since elementary, my favorite flower is rose. However, upon settling my eyes to other flowers, I began to really appreciate them. One of the flowers that I am addicted to now is the bridal flower. It has a smell of one of Victoria's Secret fragrances. It's amazing isn't it? Take a look at it. It is a single stalk flower and naturally arranged into a bridal arrangement. We already planted some at our backyard.

Sick Again!

After taking our short break in Manila, my hubby, my daughter and myself all got sick and catch colds! I guess it was due to the weather. I guess the sudden change of climate really makes people sick. Now, we are taking paracetamols, vitamins C, lots of water and fresh fruit juices.

Anyway, we went to MOA SMX to visit some of the booths of the IIEE Convention, afterwards, we went to Makati and look for something. Gonna share that something next time, maybe, after 5 months. hehehehehe

Its Our Sem Break!

Whew! After the last examination I took just awhile ago, it was really a relief. Atleast, I can have a short break from school and hectic schedules. However, after a week or so, second semester will start again and hopefully, I will be able to pass all my subjects and be able to graduate this coming March 2009.

Anyway, my hubby and I together along with our daughter will be leaving to Manila this coming 5th of November. It is not a vacation per se because my hubby will still work there. But as for me and my daughter, we will unwind ourselves by mall hopping!

There are many species of Jujube. One of the species of Jujube are Red Date, Giant Jujube, Green Jujube and a lot more. It originated in China where they have been cultivated for over 4,000 years.

Last year, I bought a green jujube tree. I asked my brother to plant it in our small farm. It grew to almost 6 feet now and it already bear fruits. I know that jujube is not so familiar but it is widely used in China, Korea, Japan and Vietnam. Some jujube species are also available in the United States.

In some land, the jujube fruits are being used to alleviate stress and to treat sore throat and colds. It is also being used in culinary to mixed with tea or make candies out of the the dried fruits. Further it used to to keep bugs and other insects out of the house and free of infestation. The leaves can also be used as potpourri.

Honestly, when I bought it, I do not know what are its benefits, I only like the taste of the fruits and so curious why the seedlings are so saleable and why does most of the people who bought those seedlings are given as gifts. Now, I understand that jujube are rare in our country and it has various advantage.

Nobody is a Korean song sang by the Wonder Girls. Frankly, I do not understand a single word except the chorus. However, I like the beat and the cute dance they did in the MTV.

Just imagine my last post was dated October 7 and today is already the 22nd day of October! Wow I had a long gap of entry here! Anyway, there are a lot of things happened in between those dates. But I guess not so important, except those days when I was tasked by my brother to entertain some people who were visiting our stall. Actually, we have joined in the city's cosechas, a 2-week display of our city's products such as fruits, vegetable, flowers and a lot more. As for us, we had showcase our organic farm goods such as grapes, strawberries, apples, herbs and our bridal flower. It was so tiring but fulfilling knowing that we had introduced and made organic farming possible in our place.

So Much Delays!

Sorry for my continuous delays! First, I was out of town and second, I was sick!

We had a long weekend! My daughter and I accompanied accompanied my hubby to his business in Dipolog City about 7-8 hour drive from our town. Inspite of the heavy rains due to typhoon Ondoy and typhoon Pepeng we did push through. We also spend a day and a night at Dakak, one of the beautiful beaches in the Philippines. We also spent a good and enjoyable night in Dapitan's Fantasy Land at Gloria's. In my next post, I will see to it that I will share some photos.

Indeed! I am out of circulation. Just finished taking alll my mid term examinations and as always busy reading, reading, reading and reading! I guess I am always oblige to read for me to be equip, (hope so). Well, I just open my email too and I would like to share this story of an old lady who had a secret to make a lot cash! Want to know her secret? Here it is . . .

An elderly woman walked into the Bank of Canada one morning with a purse full of money. She wanted to open a savings account and insisted on talking to the president of the Bank because, she said, she had a lot of money.

After many lengthy discussions (after all, the client is always right) an employee took the elderly woman to the president's office.

The president of the Bank asked her how much she wanted to deposit. She placed her purse on his desk and replied, '$165,000'. The president was curious and asked her how she had been able to save so much money. The elderly woman replied that she made bets.

The president was surprised and asked, 'What kind of bets?'

The elderly woman replied, 'Well, I bet you $25,000 that your testicles are square.'

The president started to laugh and told the woman that it was impossible to win a bet like that

The woman never batted an eye. She just looked at the president and said, 'Would you like to take my bet?'

'Certainly', replied the president. 'I bet you $25,000 that my testicles are not square.'

'Done', the elderly woman answered. 'But given the amount of money involved, if you don't mind I would like to come back at 10 o' clock tomorrow morning with my lawyer as a witness.' 'No problem', said the president of the Bank confidently.

That night, the president became very nervous about the bet and spent a long time in front of the mirror examining his testicles, turning them this way and that, checking them over again and again until he was positive that no one could consider his testicles as square and reassuring himself that there was no way he could lose the bet.

The next morning at exactly 10 o'clock the elderly woman arrived at the president' s office with her lawyer and acknowledged the $25,000 bet made the day before that t he president's testicles were square.

The president confirmed that the bet was the same as the one made the day before. Then the elderly woman asked him to drop his pants etc. so that she and her lawyer could see clearly

The president was happy to oblige.

The elderly woman came closer so she could see better and asked the president if she could touch them. 'Of course', said the president. 'Given the amount of money involved, you should be 100% sure.'

The elderly woman did so with a little smile. Suddenly the president noticed that the lawyer was banging his head against the wall. He asked the elderly woman why he was doing that and she replied, 'Oh, it's probably because I bet him $100,000 that around 10 o'clock in the morning I would be holding the balls of the President of the Bank of Canada!'

High Blood Pressure

It is common to hear high blood pressure nowadays, however, some does not really know what is high blood pressure, why causes it or how we have it. High Blood Pressure is otherwise known as Hypertension. It is a chronic medical condition where the blood pressure of a certain individual is elevated or raised. It strains the blood vessel which results to blood vessel clogging that will lead to narrowing or clotting of said vessel causing damage to the heart or brain.

Some causes of hypertension may be kidney diseases, tumors or fatty liver. High blood pressure is usually symptom or indication to strokes, heart attacks, heart failure and even arterial aneurysm.

As they say "prevention is better than cure", so we have to be aware or we need to monitor our blood pressure for us to be equip and start to live a healthy lifestyle. We have to control our blood pressure to stay healthy. To better monitor our blood pressure we need to have sphygmomanometer and stethoscope at home. Sphygmomanometer is define by a certain dictionary as " an instrument for measuring blood pressure in the arteries, especially one consisting of a pressure gauge and a rubber gauge and a rubber cuff that wraps around the arm and inflates to constrict the arteries." Stethoscope is a medical device to listen to internal sound of the body such as the heart sounds. On the other hand, many people does not know how to use it. Thank goodness to modern technology, digital and more accurate blood pressure monitor are available. We do not have to be an expert or a medical professional to monitor our blood pressure.

Also we need to choose our food we eat. We should eat the right kind of foods such as vegetables and fruits. It would be better if we eat organically grown vegetables and fruits. Let us be aware, know our blood pressure, eat more vegetables and fruits and be healthy!

A Happy Night and a Frightened One

Last Friday night, 11 September, was a happy night for us because we have watched the concert of Sarah Geronimo, a well-known singer here in the Philippines. After watching the concert, all of us 14 went to Jollibee to grab some midnight snack because we were all hungry. We went home around 1 a.m. My daughter was already asleep on our way home.

Last Saturday, we went to our farm to relax and had a sort of a reunion since my sister residing in Davao was spending her maternity leave with us. After eating our dinner, we were all preparing to go home. My daughter grab some chips to eat on the way home. While we were were traveling, my daughter was singing, "just enjoy the song, I want my money back, I want my money back", afterwards, she coughed so hard until she was grasping for air. My husband immediately stopped the car and we jumped out to get our daughter out of the the car and induced vomiting because she can no longer breath. I was already shouting and crying and at the same time thinking what to do next, we were about 25 km away from the hospital! My brother in law help in with my hubby. After a few seconds, I heard my daughter said, "I am already okey". We were so relieved that she was able to vomit and can already breath well. I immediately hugged and kiss my daughter and told her that I really love her. I was really crying, so afraid to lose her. I really thank GOD that my daughter is strong otherwise she would have fainted. And now she was already afraid to eat and sing at the same time,

So you see? I had a happy Friday night and a frightened Saturday night.

Two Little Boys

To all mothers out there, we make sure to discipline our children especially boys so as not to be like the story I read (see below).

Two little boys, aged 8 and 10, were excessively mischievous.
They were always getting into trouble and their parents knew all about it.
If any mischief occurred in their town, the two boys were probably involved.
The boys' mother heard that a preacher in town had been successful in disciplining children, so she asked if he would speak with her boys.
The preacher agreed, but he asked to see them individually.
So the mother sent the 8 year old first, in the morning, with the older boy to see the preacher in the afternoon.
The preacher, a huge man with a booming voice, sat the younger boy down and asked him sternly, 'Do you know where God is, son?'
The boy's mouth dropped open, but he made no response, sitting there wide-eyed with his mouth hanging open.
So the preacher repeated the question in an even sterner tone, 'Where is God?'
Again, the boy made no attempt to answer.
The preacher raised his voice even more and shook his finger in the boy's face and bellowed, 'Where is God?'
The boy screamed and bolted from the room, ran directly home and dove into his closet, slamming the door behind him.
When his older brother found him in the closet, he asked, 'What happened?'
The younger brother, gasping for breath, replied, 'We are in BIG trouble this time,'

A SAD Weekend

We had a very sad weekend. Last August 22, 2009 was the funeral of my father-in-law.

It was so disheartening and distressing to bid goodbye to the person who had molded and took good care of my husband. The man though not perfect but the best father to my husband and to my husband's 2 siblings. It was a hard time for my daughter too. Although she cannot fully understand her feelings but I saw the sadness in my daughter's eyes as she said "Bye bye Lolo" (grandfather). My mother-in-law was greatly heartbroken. I know that it was the hardest and the most difficult thing to happen to be apart from someone whom you spent your life with for more than 31 years. I also saw the same expression as the expression my mother once have when we lost our father through death 6 years ago.

During the funeral I told my husband to cry but he insisted that he will not cry because he told me that he needs to be strong for his mother and for his sister and brother. I told him that he will feel better if he just cry but he was headstrong. He was able to say thank you to all those present and to those who extended their respective condolences and expression of sympathy. But when the casket was placed inside the vault and started to low down, my husband could no longer hide his feelings, he cried so hard...

I know that we will be okey, as of now we are still mourning and adjusting to this new chapter of our life.

Life is so short. That is why we have to live life well.

My husband kept on thinking about the plans we had before his dad sudden death. We used to plan to have another family vacation sometime in December to unwind just as what we had last year. He has so many plans for his parents... I guess our vacation will never be the same without him. In such a moment, I for myself is mourning not just for my father-in-law but for my own father as well. When I saw in the emergency room how the doctors tried to revived my father-in-law, I remember how it had been for my father... I missed him so much. The would be moments and plans undone and the words that should have said goes with the wind. I say, life is indeed short for there are so many things that we should have shared ... that we should have laugh. However, a part of me say, both my father and my father-in-law live their respective lives fully well.

Grieving

We are grieving due to the death of my father-in-law last night. It took us just 5-6 minutes to reach the hospital, inspite the doctors tried to revive him for 35 minutes but he just did not make it.

The most difficult task for me is how to relate such tragic news to my daughter. She is very close to her grandfather considering that she is the only grand daughter. She always spent her afternoon with her lolo, asking for batteries for her toys, asking for Jollibee or watching TV with him.

One day, someone donated a pair of eyes to her. When the bandages came off, she was able to see everything, including her boyfriend.
He asked her, Now that you can see the world, will you marry me?' The girl looked at her boyfriend and saw that he was blind. The sight of his closed eyelids shocked her. She hadn't expected that. The thought of looking at them the rest of her life led her to refuse to marry him.

This is how the human brain often works when our status changes.

To be parents is very challenging. Rearing our cherished possession can be a source of happiness and fulfillment but may sometimes be a source of heartaches. As parents, what can we do to care for our family or to improve in rearing children? I guess there is no easy way to be a successful parents. We have to face hardship in disciplining our respective children for them to be become a better individual.

I read an article entitled, SEVEN STEPS TO BETTER PARENTING, the advice is very reliable. I hope these steps will also be of help to you.

STEP 1: Seek Good Advice
A better way to seek advice is found in the Word of God

STEP 2: Create a Loving Home

Have a regular and quality time together as family to developed and maintain the love within (No TV watching please!). Tell your child or children that you love them and that they are important. It is also very helpful that married couples must spend time together alone to keep the romance in the marriage.

STEP 3: Exercise Your Authority
This involves discipline. Be authoritative yet loving. This means that parents need to be supportive of their children yet maintain firm limits. Not too lenient not excessively harsh.

STEP 4: Define Family Rules and Enforce them Promptly
Have a simple and short written household rules that we feel our children need to obey. Review such rules regularly and explain that punishment will come in if refuse to comply. Make sure that the punishment is reasonable and we are willing to enforce it.

STEP 5: Establish and Maintain Routines
Establish a habit to eat one meal a day together and discuss day's activities or laugh together.
While children are very young set a regular and firm bedtime. Such bedtime must be pleasant. Create a relax bedtime such as telling your child what you did while they are at school and ask them if they want to tell you some of the things they did in school. Or we can also read to them.

STEP 6: Acknowledge Your Child's Feelings
Allow children to pour out their positive and negative feelings. After they pour out, correct the negative feelings. This will help develop trust between parents and children. Parents should not always or habitually contradict their children's feelings. Otherwise, children will start to doubt their ability to feel and think of themselves or will not open up their true feelings.

STEP 7: Teach by Example
Words oftenly imparts information. Actions teach. This does not mean that parents should act perfectly, rather, strive to be good. If we fall short like making a bad decision which affected the chilren, never hold back from saying "SORRY". We, parents, need to apologize if we made a mistake. This will help the children to apologize when they make mistakes.

I Cannot Sleep

I cannot sleep because my princess has a fever, cough and colds again. Adding to my worries is that she is having a nose bleed. Actually, she a fever last Friday to Sunday and gone last Monday. By Tuesday, she was already OK and went to school. She fell asleep at 7 pm, so by the time I went home she was sleeping. But when I kissed her, I noticed that her temperature was not the normal temperature she had. So I grab the thermometer and check her temperature. She had a 38.2 degrees Celsius. I told my hubby about it and we decided to wake her up to drink her medicine. After an hour or so, she again woke up and shouted, "Mama, blood!" Her nose was bleeding! I guess it was due to her fever. Since it is still dawn in our place, I am just watching her. By the time the clock hit 9a.m we will be going to her doctor. I hope nothing serious about her. I hope it is just a a mild flu since most of the children in our place are getting sick due to the sudden change of weather.

I really wanted to visit Palawan since my college days but have not take the opportunity to do so... Maybe on the day certain. We have a sister in faith residing in Palawan, she is actually one of the municipal judges of Puerto Princessa, she invited us to visit her place, alas, we were not able to do so due to time constraint. Maybe after taking the bar (Wish ko lang!)

Worried for my Sisterhood

My elder sister resides in Davao City. She is pregnant with her second yet first baby. I say second yet first baby because she lost her first born after carrying him for nearly 7 months. She was devastated then. After mourning with her first baby boy, she got pregnant again. So another new member of the family will be coming soon. We are happy but at the same time worried because we know that anytime this week her bag of water gonna blast and she is far from where we are. My mother left last Monday to be with her. Having our mother besides her neither a relief. I remember when my younger sister gave birth and was having her labor pain, my mother was also crying and acting as if having her labor pain too. So as when I gave birth too. But what can we do, mothers will always be mothers. No matter how we grow old, in their eyes we are still their babies! I know the feeling because I am also a mother too. I cannot imagine myself to see my princess getting married and gosh! having her labor pain! Grhhhhhhhhh! So much for that.

I hope all is well with my sister and to her baby.
